Radiohead and The Smiths

Jacob just emailed me this amazing piece of treasure. Two of my favorite bands in one!

This means, in Russian, "thank you". And I would like to extend a really large thank you to everyone who has been so enthusiastic about Holiday Records. Actually some of you have been more excited about this than even I have been, which is great! There is no lack of excitement for my part just a lack of energy due to an overwhelming amount of studying, which is why I'm so thankful for friends like Jacob, Caleb, Tess and Patrick, Joanna, and many more.
It's so exciting seeing an idea come to life, especially an idea that has been in your head for so long, and bringing it to life is certainly not an easy process. So to everyone who put in so much hard work and dedication, and to a great first eight days, thank you all.

The Magnetic Fields: Strange Powers...

rainy saturday morning.

This is the perfect kind of day to sit at my favorite synth with a cup of tea and work on music. The new Church Library songs are like a perfect secret I can't wait to share with everybody.

The only minor difficultly with sitting in front of my synthesizer lately has been that the flimsy little piano stool I've had for years finally broke. So I've been using a box stuffed with winter scarves and old books to sit on. At first I felt silly about this, but now I'm kind of in love with it... adds a certain je ne sais quio to the creative process.

Here's a nice video for the morning, by one of my favorites, the Innocence Mission.

Happy Saturday.

America lives.

we had a party today, everyone was invited, but luckily only people i liked showed up. it was an album release party, we listened to our america lives e.p. it very quickly became an i found a where the wild things are trailer party. very exciting, ive been waiting for this for a year now, and thankfully they are just now deciding to release it:

it should be there? they keep taking it down.
also, one of my friends needed to do a photoshoot, and we went up on the roof to do it, then had a party on the roof. smoked, dranked, ate chips, and dared each other to do things including:
1. i dare you to hold your breath for 2 minutes
2. i dare you to tell me your deepest darkest secret
3. i dare you to tell me what you like least about me
4. i dare you not to talk to me for the rest of the night

then we stopped playing that...?

hope you like it,

I'm A Cuckoo

If you've never heard Dazzle Ships by Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark I strongly recommend it. It was their follow up album to Architecture and Morality. Considered a commercial and critical failure. I think it is just wonderful. This song, Swiss Radio International, was cut from the original release but included on the reissue they put out last year. Also some of my favorite album art. And Of All the Things We've Made is just the greatest song they've ever written, no doubt!

it's all we care about...

writing songs. here is a picture of me in my bedroom today working on some new horse shoes material. 8 1/2 (feet)
